Man of Steel: Faora 1:6 Scale Icon Statue unboxing/photoshoot

JT Says? This line of statues from DC and Gentle Giant has not got the best of love since they were released. The faces seem to be the main cause for the hatered towards these, with almost all in agreement that the armour on these rock (unless it's Superman himself off course). I myself cancelled a pre-order after seeing pics of Superman, because the face looked like a plastic doll... Superman does not have the superb armour to make you forget about the dodgy face he has though, but the rest of the line does. I had seen lots of images of Zod and Jor-El and they looked not too bad, hell even the faces look fine to my aging eyes. But I could not for the life of me find any images of the released statue of Faora.

Faora (Ursa in Superman 2) is a baddie, she's 2nd in command to Zod, so I've always liked this character. What stood out to me about this piece though was that armour though. As I'm a huge fan of the video game Skyrim this reminded me of that game, Foara was also one of the first images I saw online when the movie was coming and the pose on this statue is not that far away from that image I first saw. (below)

Anyway... I took a chance on this piece because after hunting high and low for some buyer pics, just so it was going to be more easy to make my mind up if I should buy it or not (after all, they are not cheap).. All I can say is that I'm glad I did. The face, while not a patch on what Hot Toys could bring to the table? Is more than fine and captures the actress (Antje Traue) pretty well. The paint could be a bit lighter on the face but It's far from horrid. Anyway? If you were like me and you were sitting on the fence to buy this? All I can say is? I myself love it and I'm glad I took a chance (if I hated it, it was going right back to amazon :p).. I hope the video below helps you make your mind up either way.

The Last of Us: Joel and Ellie Statue Photoshoot

A photo shoot I did for this superb Joel and Ellie statue. This is the UK version of the statue.

I finished the game over the release weekend and loved every second of it. Amazing!!

JT Says? This statue has surprised me a lot. You really don't expect game statues to be anything other than good most of the time, but I think this statue is superb. It's very well painted and very detailed, It has a good amount of weight to it as well, so it does not feel cheap. In the US, this statue came with the  Post-Pandemic Edition of the game. But in the UK you can get this from GAMESTOP (exclusive) without the game and all the other bits and bobs that came with it. It will set you back about £80 (€ 99.97 at gamestop IE) at the time of posting (well done if you get it in a sale). Highly recommended for fans of the game, and/or statues.

JT says? - This really is an amazing book packed to the gills with info on all your childhood superhero tv shows and it was a dream come true book for me. I've had this book since it was released back in 2010. I hope there's a follow-up book on day.

R.I.P Ray Harryhausen

I grew up with Ray Harryhausen movies in the 70s and it's his movies that started a lifelong love affair with cinema (especially fantasy cinema).

His last movie holds a very special place in my heart (Clash of the Titans) as it was the first movie my mum watched with me in at the cinema. One of my fave movies of his when he first started, I only have on VHS and It's Mighty Joe Young. I watched that time and time again as a kid. Christmas and Easter would not be the same if there's not a Ray Harryhausen on TV, but to date that's never been a problem as they are always on without fail.

I love each and every one of these movies and I have watched them all countless times. And I'll watch them countless more in the years to come.
R.I.P

Thank you for opening my eyes as a child to the wonders beyond imagination.

Unboxing / Photoshoot of this boxset that was released April 19th 2013.

JT Says? I've not had much time to try out the game at the time of writing this (about 1 hour gameplay) but what I played was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to playing some more soon.

As for the statue you get? It's pretty ace. This boxset cost me £56 on release and for a game/steelbook/DLC/Comic and this really ace statue? I would say this was a good day 1 deal.... I love this statue and the reason I got the boxset was for that, so I'm very happy. The paintwork is good and it feels like a good quality (plastic) statue.

JT says? A very nice little piece from one of my fave Disney/Animated movies. There's some minor paint issues and the hands are pretty messy... But these are only issues when up really close. Overall I think this turned out well. I love how Rapunzel blends into the tower with the hair flowing around it.

Vertigo Cover Girls Death Statue - Photoshoot #1

JT Says? This really is a beautiful statue and almost everything about it is perfect... Almost! As is the case with a lot of DC Collectables statues? There are a few paint flaws here. They only show up though when zoomed in mega close with the camera and only around the torso area. The main problem is with the glue that they used to attach the umbrella to the statue. It's pretty messy if you take a real close look at it. At almost every angle though you can't see that and it does not take away from how amazing this statue is. 

Shelf eye candy rating? 9/10 

       

Little Shop of Horrors: Director's Cut [Blu-ray] digibook preview

Preview video of this superb digibook for a fav of mine from 1986. Little Shop of Horrors. The blu-ray itself is superb for both PQ and AQ and has lots of great extras. You get the theatrical version of the movie as well as the Director's Cut with the 20 min alt 'dark' ending never before released (and in full colour) I've watched this version, and while it's not as good as the theatrical version? It's still superb!

A must have for any fan of this movie. The digibook is also top quality with glossy pages.

Whatever you do though? Don't feed the plants ;)

The superb Art of Sucker Punch book

A massive selection of the books (over 350 I think in this video) I own from 1975 till today (24th June 2012). Not all books I own are in this video because I was unable to get some out of storage. Super - Shut Up, Crime! - Mediabook Edition (+ DVD) [Blu-ray]

Sorry for the crap camera work on this. I spent 10 mins talking about the movie then decided to just speed up the video at the last min and remove me talking a load of crap... That 99% of people will skip anyway :D (I do that on other peoples videos, so I feel your pain lol)

Anyway... Speeding up the video kinda left it a bit jumpy.. Ah well! What can you do? Do it over? :P Naaaaa!

Superb release though. Not perfect... But damn fine, and wipes the floor with the UK blu. Pity the extras on disc 2 are DVD only :/ Oh well. You can't have everything!
